Dear Mercer Democrat, With much sadness, we share the passing of former County Commissioner Anthony P. “Tony” Carabelli. Tony, a lifelong devoted public servant, was beloved and respected throughout Mercer County. He served as East Ward Trenton Councilman for 12 years and as Freeholder (now Commissioner) for 36 years until he retired in 2016. He was a member of many local organizations, The Fermi Federation, Knights of Columbus, Italian American Hall of Fame, Italian American Sportsman Club and the Kiwanis Club of Trenton, just to mention a few. Tony’s passing is a tremendous loss to our Democratic family. Family was so dear to him, and we extend our condolences to the entire Carabelli family. Information For Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, September 15 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of the Angels Parish/St. Joachim Church, 20-56 Butler Street, Trenton. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, 1200 Cedar Lane, Hamilton. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to Anthony's family on Thursday, September 14, from 3pm to 7pm and Friday, September 15, from 9:15 to 10:15 am at the church. Arrangements are being coordinated by Gruerio Funeral Home, Trenton. May His Memory Be as a Blessing.
