Dear Fellow Democrat, Happy New Year! Congratulations to all of our successful elected Democrats who have begun terms of office in 2023!
Today, we honor and celebrate the life and legacy of civil rights icon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His powerful message of hope will forever be nationally enshrined in the words of his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. We best honor his lofty vision and ideals, as today we celebrate and participate in a “Day of Service,” remembering his words, “Everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” Together, Let’s Keep Hope Alive!
CALENDAR: The Mercer County Democratic Endorsement Convention will be held on Sunday, March 5 at the Hyatt Regency hotel, 102 Carnegie Center Drive, West Windsor (right off Route 1 North), with registration commencing at 2 p.m. and the convention gaveled to order at 2:45 p.m. We have elections in 2023 for Mercer County races for County Executive, County Sheriff, and two County Commissioner positions, and for all State Senate and Assembly positions in Districts 14, 15 and 16. Anyone wishing to be considered for endorsement for office, please send me a letter by February 10, at demchairperson@mercerdemocrats.com, expressing your interest, all of your contact information (name, home address, email, phone numbers) and relevant information about yourself, your background & experience and your candidacy. Let me also remind prospective candidates and county Democrats of the process for the Mercer County Democratic Convention. The Mercer County Democratic Committee provides for an open participatory Convention where over 600 Mercer Democrats are empowered to participate in voting for the candidates to be endorsed by MCDC. Eligible to Vote are: All Mercer County Democratic Committee Members; all municipal, county, state and federal Elected Officials who are registered Democrats and reside in or represent any part of Mercer County; Democratic members of Board of Elections; Democratic Superintendent/Deputy Superintendent of Elections; Democratic State Committee Members from Mercer County; Democratic Municipal Committee Municipal Chair & Vice Chair for each municipality; Democratic Municipal Club President & Vice President for each municipality, and a representative from Democratic qualified organizations. Voting for contested offices shall be by secret ballot. A Notice will be sent to qualified voting delegates closer to the event. A Convention Committee Chairperson and Convention Committee, which reviews the processes and the delegate list and any challenges or related issues, will be appointed. While only qualified delegates can vote, everyone is welcome to attend! Note that the MCDC Bylaws contains a list of Democratic Organizations which can have a delegate, as well as a process set forth for currently non-represented organizations. The MCDC Bylaws can be accessed at https://mercerdemocrats.com/our_party/. Further updates and information will continue to be shared as we head to our March 5 Mercer County Democratic Convention.
In Unity for Victory, Mayor Janice Mironov Mercer County Democratic Chairperson
